Joel Perez - Contemporary Worship Leader and Youth Pastor
Joel Joshua Perez, son of Joel & Dora Perez, grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio called Stryker. He attended Stryker Local School and graduated in 2007.
Joel was inspired to learn guitar at age twelve while he attended his local youth group and always desired to lead worship in some way shape or form. He played in many worship teams, and lead worship for small groups, prayer meetings, and corporate services.
In 2010 he attended the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri where he entered an internship called “Fire in the Night”. During this time he learned Biblical studies while attending a prayer room six hours a day seven days a week from midnight to 6 am every day. It was during these six months Joel felt The Lord bringing him into a new season of his life and felt God was marking his heart to be a forerunner, one who goes before The Lord and proclaims the Gospel of the Kingdom and prepares a generation for The Lord’s return.
After his time in Kansas City he returned home and found employment at Titan Tire Corp where he built super tires for agriculture machinery. He continued to serve in his worship praise team at his home church.
August 2, 2013 Joel married his wife Renee Lynne Perez. He moved to Toledo and began to attend a local church. He was invited to play and lead at various church’s and decided it was time to try to pursue a full time role as a worship leader. After visiting Indian Lake Community, Joel shared the same vision as Indian Lake Church for reaching the lost and joyfully joined its leadership team.
He currently still lives in Toledo, Ohio with his wife Renee and his son Jonas. He enjoys watching the Detroit Tigers, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his family.
